Champlin, MN
Clyde Andrews Park is a community hub and features a broad mix of athletic fields, courts, picnic facilities, playgrounds, and an extensive walking and
biking trail network, and the park's high quality athletic fields host several regional scale youth baseball, adult softball, and youth soccer tournaments every
year. When program needs outgrew the park’s facilities and layout, the City retained HKGi to collaborate with staff on developing a new park master plan to
better match park improvement priorities with projected funding.
HKGi and City staff developed several concept scenarios which were refined into a
preferred master plan concept that featured a new splash pad at the heart of the park, a new concessions building with ADA restroom facilities, a new
community-scale picnic shelter, expanded parking areas with storm water treatment landscaping, an improved trail system, and improvements to the softball
fields.
HKGi's implementation strategies and detailed cost estimates ensured that the plan ideas fit within the capital planning priorities
of the City, and HKGi also assisted City staff in securing $220,000 in funding for the improvements through the Hennepin County Youth Sports Grant program.
HKGi provided valuable construction documentation and administration services, representing the City of Champlin and working with contractors to
ensure quality on this challenging constructio project.
